BANYUWANGI – Melihat potensi yang dimiliki Kabupaten Banyuwangi, Angkasa Pura (AP) II is currently developing Banyuwangi Airport. In accordance with the direction of the Minister of SOEs, Banyuwangi Airport, Bali, and Lombok (BBL) akan menjadi “Tourism Triangle” untuk mensinergikan pariwisata di ketiga daerah tersebut. To support this program, Banyuwangi Airport will be developed into a Low Cost Carrier Airport (LCCA).

“Selaras dengan target Kementerian Pariwisata yaitu mencapai 20 million foreign tourists in 2020, konsep LCCA/LCCT menjadi opsi untuk mendorong datangnya wisman ke Indonesia” ujar Direktur Utama AP II Muhammad Awaluddin, Sunday (23/7/2018).

“Dengan pertumbuhan penumpang Low Cost Carrier yang naik 55% per year which is much higher than Full Service Carriers (FSC) which is only about 7%, pengembangan LCCA dan konsep Tourim Airport yang diusung Bandara Banyuwangi dapat mengakselerasi perkembangan pariwisata di daerah Jawa Timur”, added Awaluddin.

Banyuwangi Airport development plans to support the LCCA program include improving airport facilities and services. Among other things, thickening of the foundation (Overlay Runway) formerly PCN 27 become PCN 56 so that it can accommodate Boeing type aircraft 737-8 NG, 737-9 ER and Airbus 320; Expansion of aircraft parking space (APRON) than from previous capacity 3 Narrow Body plane with area 16.200 m2 to be 9 Narrow Body plane with area 34.000 m2.

“Ada lagi perpanjangan dan pelebaran landasan dari sebelumnya 2.250×30 m2 menjadi 2.500×45 m2. Expansion of vehicle parking space from 2.000 m2 to be 5.000 m2 with capacity 260 vehicle. There is also an expansion of the Passenger Terminal from 7.000 m2 to be 20.000 m2,” tambahnya.

For the five activities above, AP II prepares a total investment of not less than Rp 300 billion. Pengembangan Bandara Banyuwangi ini juga sebagai program dukungan AP II untuk event Annual Meeting IMF – World Bank yang akan diselengarakan di Nusa Dua Bali pada bulan Oktober 2018.

Furthermore, Banyuwangi Airport is planned to be proposed as an international airport following requests from several airlines to open international routes to and from China, Malaysia and Australia.

Meanwhile, Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas supports Banyuwangi Airport to be developed into a Low Cost Carrier Airport (LCCA). To make that happen, The Banyuwangi Regency Government has helped AP II to accelerate the construction of this green concept airport terminal.

Not only that, The Banyuwangi Regency Government has communicated with Sriwijaya Air to accelerate international flights. Targetnya adalah adanya penerbangan China – Banyuwangi.

“Kuncinya adalah kolaborasi. The regency and airport governments have revived the airport. We prepare tourist attractions. In addition, this collaboration also includes hospitality between AP II and the Regency Government,” he added.
