BANYUWANGI – Polres Banyuwangi menyalurkan bantuan air bersih untuk warga di daerah kekeringan di wilayah Kabupaten Banyuwangi. With a Watercanon, 5000 liters of clean water are channeled to the Sidowangi Village area, Wongsorejo District, Monday (5/8/2019).

Reported from detik.com, The clean water is directly distributed to dozens of people who have brought jerry cans and buckets.

Those who have been hit by drought, of course, really hope for this clean water channel.

“Kita sengaja membawa watercanon untuk membawa air bersih. Because the volume is bigger than the tank car,” ujar AKBP Taufik Herdiansyah Zeinardi, Banyuwangi Police Chief.

Distribution of clean water assistance, explained the Chief of Police, as a form of police concern for people who have difficulty getting clean water. Besides that, These activities also maintain public order and security.

“Sebagai pengayom masyarakat kita harus ada di tengah-tengah masyarakat yang kesulitan saat ini,” he added.

Related to other help, The Kapolres has a discourse on helping to drill wells around locations that are suspected of having a shortage of clean water.

“Kalau memungkinkan akan kita kaji,” ungkap Kapolres.

The distribution of clean water assistance by the Banyuwangi Police was indeed welcomed with great enthusiasm by the local community.

With the help of clean water, the community is very helpful. This is because so far the water assistance that has come from several agencies and volunteers is still considered insufficient.

“Bantuan air bersih ini sangat membantu kami. Because we really have trouble finding water,” ujar Sadikun (65) local people.

According to Sadik, he needs one jerry can of clean water a day. That's for bathing needs and others.

In addition, residents also need water to drink livestock. Sometimes, to meet the needs of clean water he buys at a price of Rp 1 thousand per jerrycan.

“Untuk kebutuhan sehari – hari kadang saya beli. One jirige is one thousand. Even then, the location is around 2 kilometers from our place," he said.

The impact of the dry season which caused drought began to be felt by residents in three villages in Wongsorejo District. Residents have difficulty getting clean water. Like the residents of Pos Sumur Hamlet in Bengkak Village, Pancoran Hamlet in Sidowangi Village and Karangbaru Hamlet Pal 4 in Alas Buluh Village.
