Severely Damaged Road, Tegalsari Residents Close Access to Mining Trucks

TEGALSARI, Jawa Pos Radar Tile – Residents of Dusun Krajan 1, Tegalsari Village/District blockaded the road leading to Tegalrejo Village, Tegalsari District, Banyuwangi, Friday (17/3) around 08.00. The action was a form of protest because the road was in his village, heavily damaged because dump trucks carrying material from excavation C in Bulurejo Hamlet often pass through, Tegalrejo village.

In that action, residents closed the road by putting up posters that read, miners damaged roads. Any dump trucks that will enter, residents were asked to return. “Those who are prohibited from passing are only dump trucks, private vehicles are still allowed to pass,” explained one of the residents, Nur Kholiq, 49.

According to Kholiq, Residents were forced to close the road for the dump truck because they were furious with mining activities in Tegalrejo Village. "Our roads are affected, paved road on 2017 Good, now it is damaged because it is often passed by material dump trucks,” he said to Jawa Pos Radar Tile.

Kholiq said, every day approx 40 dump truck crossing the village road. The vehicle was carrying uruk materials from a mine which is about two kilometers from his house. "It's been a month now (dump truck), there used to be but not as much as now," he said.

The man who works as a welder said, Previously, not all of the dump trucks loaded with material passed through his village. "If you go north through (hamlet) Bulurejo, later go to (village) Karangdoro (Tegalsari District). If you go south through Dusun Padang Bulan (Tegalrejo village) and cross this road (Tegalsari village)," he said.

So that, the drivers passed the Dusun Padang Bulan road, Tegalrejo Village and through Tegalsari Village. "This way because the northern route was rejected by residents," he said.

Head of Tegalsari District, Muji Purwanto said that he had repeatedly mediated with the miners, armada dump truck, and citizens. "We have mediated many times, three times at the Tegalsari Village Office,He said.
