BANYUWANGI, KOMPAS.com – Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) provide explanations related to extreme weather that hit Banyuwangi, East Java.
Banyuwangi BMKG forecaster Rezky P Hartiwi said, This phenomenon occurs because atmospheric conditions tend to be unstable which triggers extreme weather.

“Karena keseluruhan wilayah di Banyuwangi masih berada di puncak musim penghujan. Please be aware of the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds,” ujar Rezky, Sunday (12/2/2023).
The risk of strong winds in Banyuwangi is predicted to continue for as long 24 hours ahead.

“Kemudian kondisi suhu permukaan di laut Jawa menyebabkan potensi penambahan massa air yang mendukung proses pembentukan awan hujan di sekitar wilayah,” ungkap Rezky.
This also triggers the potential for high waves in the southern waters of Banyuwangi which are influenced by wind speed.
“Potensi angin kencang kalau kita lihat sampai 24 hours ahead. But later it will be updated again. We don't know where the cyclone is going, what is clear is that it has moved away from the territory of Indonesia," he explained.
