BANYUWANGI – The day after the explosion of the fisherman's selerek boat engine in Muara Inkai, Village of Mandar, Banyuwangi, last thursday (12/1), the Water Police Unit (Satpolair) Banyuwangi Police immediately carried out an investigation.

From the results of the officer's inspection, It is known that the trigger for the explosion came from Pertalite steam which fishermen use to clean ships. Banyuwangi Police Chief of Police, AKP Subandi explained, The five fishermen were initially preparing to go to sea.

They also cleaned the ship's body using fuel oil (BBM). Accidental, The fuel used to clean the ship's body is pertalite fuel. “They cleaned the ship's deck with pertalite, so that the steam from the pertalite was caught in the fire from the kambang resin which was lit with a match by Matlani,"said Subandi.

Regarding the sound of the explosion that occurred, Subandi explained that the sound came from the ship's generator engine. However, he confirmed, that the initial source of this disaster was not the generator engine. The generator engine that made a loud explosion sound was only the result of the pertalite vapor being hit by the fire.

"After the fire caught up with the pertalite vapor on the ship's deck, it then hit the generator engine, so there was an explosion. But when we saw the generator was still intact, As a result of this incident, only the ship's tarpaulin was burned to its width 30 cm,added Subandi.
