Banyuwangi Returns to Become the Location of the Cultural Arts Training Program…

Banyuwangi – Banyuwangi Regency was again chosen as the location for the implementation of the Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship program (BSBI) held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) RI. For two months, 9 youth from various countries will join in exploring and practicing the arts and culture of Banyuwangi.

The BSBI participants are students from 9 country, including Russia, Qatar, Australia, Kazakhstan, India, Filipina, Malaysia, Timor read, and Indonesian. They live in Banyuwangi from 6 June – 5 August 2023 to learn the variety of arts and culture native to the Blambangan Earth. Like dance, folk songs, culinary, customs, etc.

BSBI is one of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' flagship programs since 2003 to promote Indonesian art and culture to the world community. In this implementation, BSBI followed as much 45 participant from 34 country. They are placed in 5 different counties/cities, One of them is Banyuwangi.

"Thank you, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for choosing and entrusting this program to be carried out in Banyuwangi. This is a momentum to promote Banyuwangi's art and cultural treasures on the international stage," said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Wednesday (7/6/2023).

“I hope, 9 this student is going to be “ambassador” Banyuwangi when they finished the program and returned to their country,” added Ipuk.

Head of Banyuwangi Culture and Tourism Office, Muhammad Yanuarto Bramuda, added that during the program the participants would learn Banyuwangi cultural arts guided by the Lang-Lang Buana art studio fronted by Sabar Hariyanto.

“For two months they will study cultural arts in this studio. Start dance, folk songs and music, until kriya,said Bramuda.

According to Bramuda, besides containing elements of education and training, the implementation of the BSBI program has also become a venue for promoting the rich variety of Banyuwangi arts and culture to foreign communities, especially for young people and art and culture lovers.

“This can become a Friends of Indonesia network, united by the love of art and culture, and later they will promote Banyuwangi to their respective countries," he concluded.

This program is the 6th year that Banyuwangi has been selected as the location for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' BSBI program. Previously, on 2019 Banyuwangi was also chosen as the host for the Indonesia Channel Art Show (Inchan) which is the highlight of the BSBI program implementation. (*)
