Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas encouraged the strengthening of the role of academics in implementing bureaucratic reform.

Anas explained that synergic collaboration and cooperation between actors involved in the life of the nation and state is the key to the success of implementing bureaucratic reform.

According to him, academics are one of the actors who also have an important role in the implementation of bureaucratic reform in Indonesia, side by side with the government, community, business, and media.

“Akademisi dapat bertindak sebagai policy entrepreneur, where they can invest and use the resources they have to identify and analyze policy problems to then propose policy solutions to these problems,” ujar Anas dalam keterangan tertulis, Tuesday (16/5/2023).

He conveyed this while delivering a scientific oration at the UNJ Open Session at the opening of UNJ's 59th Anniversary in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/5).

Furthermore, Anas said academics played a broad role in using knowledge, ability, capability, as well as materials for analyzing policies issued by the government. Academics can also strengthen evidence-based policies on the results of observations and analyzes based on data and information that are developing in society.

On the other hand, said Anas, academics also play a role in ensuring that development goals and targets are achieved. Therefore, Academics can be a bridge between government and society.

“Dosen dapat menginternalisasi dan menyosialisasikan kebijakan pemerintah kepada masyarakat sebagai bagian dari Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. While students can help implement these policies to the community,” he added.

The former Head of LKPP also said that when he was still serving as Banyuwangi Regent, he often invites students to increase awareness of pregnant women regarding the importance of paying attention to nutrition and baby nutrition from the time they are in the womb.

“Saya titip, so that the campus can be more active in campaigning regarding this matter because the future of our children is at 2050 later, determined from now on," he explained.

Meanwhile, UNJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Komarudin said at this Anniversary, his party carried the theme 'Towards a World Class University'. Through this theme, he will continue to strive to present a quality educational climate.

“Ikhtiar harus dilakukan sungguh-sungguh agar menghasilkan iklim pendidikan yang bermutu dan melahirkan SDM yang visioner sehingga dapat mencapai kampus berkelas dunia ini," he concluded.
