BANYUWANGI – Ahead of the arrival of the Holy Month of Ramadan this year, police officers are actively carrying out raids on a number of boarding houses. Result, in yesterday's raid (25/5) officers managed to arrest six people, with details of two women and four men.
Joint officers from the Banyuwangi Police and the Banyuwangi Police Satbimas yesterday also found two men and one woman in one boarding room.. The non-Muslim couple was first discovered by authorities in a boarding house around the back of Ramayana.
Meanwhile, Three other people were caught by the joint team in another boarding house not far from the first boarding house. Then, they were taken to the Banyuwangi Police office for guidance. "They all made written statements that they would not repeat their actions in the presence of their parents and authorities. We have also handed everything over to the court for trial," explained the Banyuwangi Police Chief, AKP I Ketut Redana.
Ketut Redana added, The raid on the boarding house was part of a community disease operation (concentrated) in order to create conditions that are safe from criminal acts and violations of social norms. This operation was also held to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan which is only a few days away.
He hopes that the catch will have a deterrent effect and that other residents will comply with applicable social norms. Because, although the punishment received was not too severe, which is only tipped, but the social punishment he receives if he is caught red-handed in a room with a non-muhrim is certainly very severe.
Residents who live around the house The boarding house is asked to provide information to the police if they find out about irregularities in the boarding house. “We will continue to carry out raids at any time, both day and night. These findings indicate that there are still many non-mahram couples living in the same room in Banyuwangi," he concluded. (radar)
