MALAYSIA – Kesenian jaranan buto Banyuwangi menarik perhatian para pengunjung festival balon udara Putrajaya (Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta), Malaysia, Last week (13/3). Maryanto added, The performance of the Jaranan Buto Banyuwangi dance attracted the attention of the visitors. The Jaranan Buto dance is presented by the Banyuwangi community in Malaysia. The dance is performed in three sessions with its own storyline.
"We present this typical Banyuwangi dance in three sessions. Each session will have its own interconnected storyline,"explained the man from the District of Rogojampi, Banyuwangi, that. Maryanto added, the first session was a buto horse show. The session illustrated the strength and spirit of the Banyuwangi community in defending and living life.
''During the performance'', there is an explanation about jaranan buto in Indonesian and English,he said. Next, the second session lasts for two hours, that is cat dance. "The last one is the barong dance performance which tells the story of a spooky-looking barong. However, behind all that, Barong acts as a leader who has a firm spirit, adil, and protect. He does not discriminate and spread love in life on this earth,he explained.
Meanwhile, The Jaranan buto art group Turonggo Yakso Sekar Wangi was formed by the Banyuwangi community who live in Malaysia. They are members of the Banyuwangi Family Association (Ikawangi) Malaysia. “This art of jaranan has become a symbol of the unity of the Ikawangi community and often appears at Indonesian citizen activities in Malaysia and Malaysian community events.," he said.
Turonggo Yakso Sekar Wangi, head of horse art, AhmadAziz, 55, I hope that the typical Banyuwangi art does not fade among Indonesian citizens and the people of Banyuwangi.
