KALIPURO – Communities around Kalipuro District don't seem to need to worry when walking around Jalan Raden Wijaya and Jalan Argopuro. Because the Banyuwangi Regency Government is currently building sidewalks starting from the Brak intersection.

So far, it can be said that pedestrians have difficulty walking comfortably in the area. Apart from the dense vehicles, there are almost no pedestrian paths. Because, the side of the road that should be used by pedestrians is almost entirely part of a shop building or car park.

Head of the Department of Hygiene and Landscaping (DKP) Banyuwangi, Arief Setiawan, said that the sidewalk construction was carried out in almost all sub-districts in Banyuwangi. Although the number is limited, DKP builds sidewalks in areas that have been considered unfriendly for pedestrians.

He hopes, the streets in the Banyuwangi area become safer, so that pedestrians do not worry about safety when walking on the edge of the main road. “The project we build in almost all areas. It's in the Tegaldlimo District, Purwoharjo, and Kalipuro. In addition to making it easier for pedestrians, we also want to arrange the path to make it look more aesthetic, said Arief.

Dear, Arief said the government's budget is limited. So that, DKP is only able to provide maximum 350 sidewalk meters on each side of the road. "That's all we don't use the auction because the quota is limited. We have prepared this path with a disability path and a drainage channel to make it easier for the control tank," he concluded.
