Banyuwangi Ijen Valley Festival Continues to Attract Tourists

BANYUWANGI – Ijen Valley Festival which was held for the tenth time, again to amaze the tourists who filled the amphitheater at Ijen Terracotta Infatuated Park.

The Ijen Valley Festival presents a performance of the Meras Gandrung Ballet. Namely, the minimal dialogue drama performance that is packaged in a ballet tells the story of the dancer's journey to becoming a dancer “infatuated”.

Where the dancer is not only required to be a professional dancer, but also must be able to become sinden.

This show takes the setting of the Dutch colonial period, because Gandrung in the colonial period had a big role in fighting for independence.

Accompanied by gamelan music, this show looks stunning by involving dozens of performers across ages, start 6 until 60 year.

This attraction was held in an open amphitheater located in the Terracotta Infatuated Park in the Jiwa Jawa Resort area. This area is at the height of the plain of Banyuwangi, precisely in Tamansari Village, Subdistrict Licin Banyuwangi which is at the foot of Mount Ijen.

This amphitheater offers views of rice fields in the background with hundreds of terracotta statues in the form of Gandrung dancers scattered among them.

There is Bawean Island, we will do like this. Even if it's not exactly the same, at least it's similar,” said the Regent of Gresik, Sambari Halim Radianto.
