NGOPIBARENG.ID – After several demonstrations against over-dimensional and over-loading regulations (BLOOD), Finally, a number of logistics drivers who own ODOL trucks agreed to normalize their vehicles. The normalization of ODOL trucks was symbolically carried out by the Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Budi Setyadi.

Normalization is carried out at the Motor Vehicle Testing Technical Services Unit of the Transportation Service (UPT PKB)Banyuwangi, Monday, 07 February 2022. The normalization activity was initiated by the Indonesian Logistics Drivers Association, chaired by Slamet Barokah.

"This is what I appreciate and give two thumbs up, that here is a pure initiative from the drivers. This is an initiative from the Indonesian Logistics Driver Association,Budi Setiyadi explained.

Budi Setiyadi added, just in Banyuwangi, This day, his party normalizes trucks twice. Firstly, normalization of dump trucks in the Glenmore District area and secondly fuso trucks in UPT PKB.

He explained, if anywhere else, it was his party who called for normalization. In Banyuwangi, In fact, he was the one who was invited. According to him, this condition, showing the enthusiasm of drivers, including entrepreneurs and also the community affected by ODOL, many movements have begun.

“For example, in Bumiayu there is a community association for bridge lovers. Because accidents often occur on this bridge, If a truck is overloaded, they are asked to return it," he explained.

He added, The Ministry of Transportation has coordinated with Korlantas Polri and the Ministry of PUPR on this ODOL regulation. Results of coordination with these two agencies, according to him, The impact of overloading trucks causes very serious road damage.

"The Minister of Public Works conveyed the damage, IDR 23 trillion in damage due to this," he explained.

National Police Traffic Corps data, he continued, in the past month on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in one toll road section around 60 or 70 km happened as much 27 accident. This accident occurred because the vehicle was ODOL. Because the speed of the toothpaste truck is not optimal.

“Nah, The gap between toothpaste trucks and small vehicles is too high, so many people are hit from behind,” he said.

The Director General of Land Transportation also appreciated the Banyuwangi Regency Government. Because in Banyuwangi there is already a kind of Regent's Regulation which prohibits ODOL vehicles from operating. Even, he said, in Banyuwangi trucks that are ODOL will not be able to pass the test in Banyuwangi.

“This is in line with what we are doing for all periodic tests in Indonesia. So we are currently improving the management of periodic tests,he explained.

Further explained, Currently the Ministry of Transportation is also making improvements to human resources. along with it, Efforts will be made to operate all weighbridges again. So if there is a truck that is ODOl, the action must already be to transfer the load. Namely by unloading the excess load and then switching to another vehicle.

Not only that, Currently the police are also starting to take action in the form of tickets. Not just an ordinary speeding ticket, but also carry out fine enforcement using articles 277 Law No 22 year 2009 regarding Road Transport Traffic where the fine is up to IDR 25 million.

“Hopefully what we have done will last for years 2023 for an ODOL-free Indonesia, hopefully we can make it happen," he concluded.
