BANYUWANGI – The waters of the Bali and Lombok Straits receive special attention from the Fleet Command 2 (Co-fleet) Surabaya ahead of the simultaneous elections 17 April 2019 in the future by lowering the KRI Karang Pilang 981.

KRI Karang Pilang 981 arrived and docked at the Indonesian Navy Base Pier (Lanal) Banyuwangi, Wednesday (27/3/2019) yesterday.

The arrival of the warship secured the area including Probolinggo waters, Jember, Lumajang, Situbondo, Banyuwangi, to Bali and the waters of Lombok.

KRI Karang Pilang 981 is one of the warships belonging to the Indonesian Navy under the auspices of the Fleet Command (Coarmad) Two are domiciled in Surabaya.

Danlanal explained, KRI Karang Pilang went to Banyuwangi for re-supply purposes, namely re-fuelling, fresh water and shopping for wet materials.

"Meanwhile, Lanal's function is as a base to provide services to elements of the Indonesian Navy, Navy aircraft and marines carrying out operations,” explained Danlanal.

KRI Karang Pilang is also equipped with surveillance radar and complete weapons during the operation. This radar functions to detect any disturbances from suspicious ships in the waters of the Bali and Lombok straits.

Meanwhile, Commander of KRI Karang Pilang, Marine Major (P) Farid Ardiansyah said, Dikotama Dua elements carried out maritime operations in the Koardamad Dua sector.
