BANYUWANGI – The number of localizations in Banyuwangi continues to shrink. Originally, localization of prostitution in Blambangan Earth reached 14 location, and now all that's left is left 10 location. Head of the Banyuwangi Social Service for Manpower and Transmigration, Iskandar Azis said, The regional government is targeting Banyuwangi to be free from localization. To achieve that target, Regional governments will do this in stages using more humane methods. "This year, We are targeting the number of localizations to be below ten units,” said Iskandar.
Commercial sex worker empowerment program (prostitute) which is encouraged by the local government, quite an impact on their existence. This program encourages many prostitutes who are aware of themselves to leave this illicit profession. At the moment, said Iskandar, Many former prostitutes have lived a more dignified life.
"They have had a steady income since leaving the profession as prostitutes,Iskandar insisted. Besides that, Many of them also consciously build new lives with their respective partners. Even, Many prostitutes have stated that they are willing to marry if they have a soul mate. "On us, they openly expressed their desire to get married," he said.
Based on the results of field checks, most of the localities are no longer inhabited. This has happened since the Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas' policy to repatriate prostitutes from outside the city. At the moment, The prostitutes who live in the localization are Banyuwangi residents. If there are wars outside the city who carry out their profession in localization, immediately returned to their place of origin.
If prostitutes from outside the city practice in the Banyuwangi localization, there are only two choices. That is, returning home on their own accord or being forced to return home by the local government. “Don't ever have out-of-town prostitutes practicing in Banyuwangi.
