BANYUWANGI – Plans to hold Gandrung Sewu Festival activities 2018 received rejection from Islamic organizations in Banyuwangi. Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Banyuwangi issued a statement of attitude contained in the letter No. 0003/SK/DPW-FPI Banyuwangi/II/1440 Dated 11 October 2018.

Chairman of the Banyuwangi DPW FPI H Agus Iskandar confirmed the statement.

“Right, That's our stance. The meaning is that we are reminded so that we are not punished by God for committing such disobedience. The disaster incident in Palu must be a mirror for us Banyuwangi residents,” said Agus, Thursday (18/10/2018).

In this context, Agus said, His party only wants to remind the local government and the community regarding immorality.

“We just remind. About whether you want to be accepted or not, Whatever. According to me, regent as policy holder, Can you find someone else who is more polite to advance Banyuwangi?,” he said.

The Gandrung Sewu Festival activity was originally held at Boom Beach, Banyuwangi, Saturday (20/10/2018). This activity has been held 7 times in the same place. As much 1300 dancers will dance Gandrung, Banyuwangi traditional dance.
