Satu Dekade 'Banyuwangi Batik Festival', Bukti Konsistensi Pengembangan Ekosistem Batik Banyuwangi

ID TEXT – district government Banyuwangi konsisten mengembangkan ekosistem batik lokal Banyuwangi. Salah satunya lewat gelaran Banyuwangi Batik Festival (BBF) which has been running for a decade. This year BBF was held 2023, by Creative Hub, Integrated Tourism Terminal, Friday- Saturday (21-22/10/2023).

Thanks to that consistency, the batik industry and stalls continue to grow, parallel to the many young designers emerging. Not only that, Banyuwangi batik motifs also continue to develop and be explored from the rich potential that Banyuwangi has.

Regent of Banyuwangi Ipuk Fiestiandani, said BBF is not just a fashion show. However, it is a series of efforts by Banyuwangi to grow the batik ecosystem in Banyuwangi.

“BBF is not just a fashion show, However, this is triggering more rapid development of the Banyuwangi batik industry. Not just at the ends. But, from upstream to downstream. From production to ready-made clothing,” said the Regent of Banyuwangi at the BBF event Saturday night (21/10/2023).

For the last ten years, The district government is diligent in holding training and bringing in national batik industry players, also a national designer to Banyuwangi, to train Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) Banyuwangi batik.

“Alhamdulillah, Now the batik ecosystem is starting to grow. Initially, there were only a dozen UMKM players, now it has reached 60 batik business actors in Banyuwangi. Not to mention the designers whose designs are getting better, batik craftsmen who are also growing. We hope this ecosystem continues to grow," said Ipuk.

This year's BBF, which uses the Sembruk Cacing motif, displays dozens of batik clothes with a similar theme. There is Muslim fashion, casual, official, to party attire. Banyuwangi itself has 44 Batik motifs are appointed every year in turn.

The event, which has been running for a decade, does not just hold a fashion show. However, also accompanied by a series of other activities that encourage the younger generation's love of batik.

Start a batik design competition, fashion on pedestrian, selection of batik ambassadors, jazz batik, batik market, to batik extortion which all involve teenagers and students.

One of the batik business actors in Banyuwangi, Fifin Andri hopes that this year's BBF will re-leverage the batik industry in line with the revival of Banyuwangi tourism.

"Our development efforts are in line with tourism. After dropping during the pandemic yesterday, Now it's starting to return to normal. Currently many tourists have come, not to mention that Banyuwangi hosts various events, MICE has also moved. This is very beneficial for us,”Said Fifin.
