BANYUWANGI – Banyuwangi district government has prepared a budget of Rp 15 billion in the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) 2017. The budget will be used to complete the integrated tourism terminal construction project at the former Sobo Market, Banyuwangi.

Construction of an integrated tourism terminal complex in the prime area of ​​Gandrung City, it started since 2015 then. The terminal which is combined with the people's market and dormitory tourism is targeted to be completed by the end of this year and can be operated early next year.

Before the construction process funded by APBD this year was resumed, Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas conducted a field visit yesterday (17/1). “Please see for yourself. “Our target, the construction of the integrated market and terminal complex will be completed this year," he said. Anas added, The market complex and tourism terminal will consist of two main buildings. Each building has four floors.

Anas emphasized that the district government would not get rid of traders who had been selling at Sobo Market. "We set up a stall- stalls for former market traders. However, merchandise adapted to the concept of tourism. Like selling culinary, local fruit, souvenirs and art products," he said.

Head of Public Works Department of Human Settlements and Spatial Planning (CKPR), Mujiono added, The integrated tourism terminal was built from the Banyuwangi budget for three years. "Year 2015 Rp 4 billion, year 2016 Rp 8 billion, year 2017 budgeted Rp 15 billion,” called Mujiono.

Mujiono added, The integrated terminal will also be equipped with a tourist information center (TIC). "This terminal is projected to become the center of Banyuwangi tourism activity," he said.
