“Durian season in Songgon has started. It is just, still not into peak season. The peak of durian season in Songgon just arrived mid-March,Sibun said (38) one of the durian traders from Dusun Mangli, Songgon Village/District.
Even though it's not harvest season yet, Songgon's original durians are being hunted by a number of buyers. Especially domestic tourists like from Surabaya, Poor, Mojokerto, Jombang, Kediri, and other areas. They bought durian souvenirs to take home.
“The most sought after are red durians and orange durians," he said.
Durian with red and orange colors is much sought after because it is not found in other areas in Banyuwangi. The price of orange durian is also quite expensive. One durian is priced at Rp 90 thousand. If you buy two, you will be given a special price of Rp 150 thousand.
“The price of orange durian is really expensive, because the type is rare and rarely found. The taste is also different from durian in general,Sibun explained.
In a day Sibun claims to be able to sell dozens of orange durians. However, The orange durian fruit is hard to find. In addition to the orange type of durian, butter durian, Geneva is also in great demand by a number of buyers.
“The price of the butter durian is also not much different from the orange durian. If ordinary durian, the price ranges from Rp 10 thousand to Rp 100 thousand,” clear.
Durian fruit productivity from Songgon, it's clear, quite a lot in this year's harvest season. This is thought to be influenced by weather factors which are quite friendly and supportive. “Compared to last harvest season, pretty good this year. The price is pretty good too,"he said.
