KALIPURO – Passenger Motor Boat (km²) Agung Samudera IX is ready to operate in the Bali Strait. Several officers from the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) East Java yesterday (13/11) check directly the readiness of the new ship.

The ship under the auspices of the Agung Samudera shipping company is still waiting for a warrant to be approved from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Director General of Hubla). Besides that, The maximum load capacity and speed of the ship need to be checked so that no unwanted things happen when the ship starts operating.

For readiness, East Java BPTD officers have checked the lasing, fire extinguishers, emergency boat, passenger life jacket, as well as the alertness of the crew to deal with emergency situations if an incident occurs on the ship. “We are still checking the readiness of the ship before it is allowed to operate in the Bali Strait,"said the coordinator of the service unit Rocky Surentu.

Minimum Service Standard (SPM) applies to ferry transportation companies. And must be obeyed so that passengers feel safe and comfortable. The application of service standards for crossing passengers is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia No. PM 39 Year 2015 regarding Standards of Service for Passengers of Crossing Transportation. “In the laws and regulations it is written and it must be enforced,” said Rocky.

Meanwhile, Branch Head of PT Samudera Agung Sofyansah said:, new ships are required to follow the ship trail because it is useful to check whether the new ship is feasible to operate or not.
