BANYUWANGI – The mystery of who owns the severed leg found by residents in the Kedawung Hamlet public cemetery, Pondok Nongko village, District of Kabat, Banyuwangi Regency, finally revealed. The piece of the left leg belongs to Asep Pujianto (28) Cirebon residents who have been crew members of fishing boats.

Kabat Kabat Police Chief AKP Supriyadi said, the discovery of the victim's identity began when a blank sheet of the results of the operation was found with the logo of the Yasmin Banyuwangi Hospital in a cardboard containing a severed leg wrapped in a shroud..

"Next, the police coordinated with the Yasmin Hospital and confirmed that they had carried out the operation to amputate the victim's leg on 28 April 2018 then,"said the police chief.

While the victim himself, received initial treatment at the local hospital since 27 April 2018.

The police chief explained, according to the owner's statement, he had a work accident or his leg was caught in a net when the ship was fishing in the Merauke sea area. Because his condition is serious, the victim was rushed to the Naval Hospital in the Merauke area for medical treatment.

"But the hospital suggested an amputation and the victim was not willing,said the Chief of Police.

Next, the victim was taken to the Denpasar Bali Sanglah Hospital and the medical staff also suggested that he be amputated because his bones had been destroyed.

The police chief confessed, the victim again objected so someone informed him to be taken to Banyuwangi to be precise in Gintangan Village, Blimbingsari District, for traditional or alternative treatment.

"Here, also could not carry out treatment because the victim's leg had rotted so he was directed to be operated on at the hospital, until finally the victim was rushed to Yasmin Hospital for amputation surgery,said the Chief of Police.

The police chief added, after the operation, the victim asked Hariono for help, residents of Pakis Village, Kabat District to bury the pieces of his leg. And the victim's introduction to Hariono, thanks to the help of one of his fellow ship crew members who knew Hariono.

"So, Hariono buried the victim's leg in the Kedawung Hamlet public cemetery, Pondok Nongko village, without coordinating with the local village administration until they were finally found by residents who claimed to have smelled a rotten smell on Friday (4/5),said the Chief of Police.

Because, the depth of the burial of the victim's leg pieces wrapped in shrouds and cardboard only reached 30 cms only.

Now, The victim's leg was buried in a special cemetery behind the Blambangan Banyuwangi Hospital, witnessed by the police, Saturday (5/5).

Temporary, Asep Pujianto is still receiving treatment at Yasmin Banyuwangi Hospital.
