Mount Raung Climber Found Dead on Toothpick Peak

BANYUWANGI – Zaki Putra Andika (23), climber who was declared missing while on Mount Raung, Banyuwangi was found dead at around 1:00 p.m 12.49 WIB. The victim was found around Toothpick Peak or before the true peak on a high mountain 3.344 meters above sea level (masl) this.

“Thank God it has been found. Team from Basarnas, TRC BPBD and volunteers from the local village found it,” said the West Java AKP, Kalibaru Police Chief.

Previously, volunteers from local villages, Arief and Acong circle around the top of Tusuk Gigi. A few moments later, saw a body lying just below Toothpick Peak. “Suspected of slipping,” added the West Java Police Chief.

West Java revealed, Zaki's body cannot currently be evacuated. This is because the weather conditions on Mount Raung were hit by a storm. “Currently it still cannot be lowered due to the storm above. It is possible that the body will be taken down tomorrow morning,” added.

The police have now prepared the Kalibaru Health Center as a post-mortem location for Zaki's body. “This is just anticipation. We also have to do a post-mortem regarding this body,” he concluded.

Previously reported, A climber was reported missing while climbing Mount Raung, via Kalibaru District, Banyuwangi. Zaki Putra Andika (22), climber from Sedayu, Brondong, Lamongan is thought to have gotten lost while heading to the top of Mount Raung.
