BANYUWANGI – Number of passengers at Banyuwangi International Airport (BIB) continues to increase every year. During 2018 then, The number of airplane passengers at the airport, the pride of the people of Bumi Blambangan, has almost doubled compared to last year 2017.
The number of passengers at the airport formerly known as Blimbingsari Airport as long as 2018 reach 366.115 person. Meanwhile in yr 2017, There are only as many passengers who use air transportation services at BIB 190.369 person. It means, Within a year there was an increase in passengers of up to 92 percent.
Executive General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II BIB Anton Marthalius said, number of passengers at the airport located in Blimbingsari Village/District, it increases every year.
"This is because BIB is becoming increasingly well known and more and more people are taking advantage of air transportation via BIB, good from Banyuwangi, Jember, and Situbondo," he said, (7/1/2019).
Increase in passengers, Anton continued, supported by the increasing number of aircraft movements in BIB. Year 2017 then it was recorded as existing 2.967 aircraft movement. Meanwhile in yr 2018, the number of aircraft movements taking off and landing at BIB reached 4.782.
Meanwhile, in the year 2018 Banyuwangi Airport has succeeded in being "upgraded" to become an international airport. Since 19 last December, Citilink serves direct flights on the Banyuwangi–Kuala Lumpur route.
