BANYUWANGI – The accident occurred on the Banyuwangi highway – Jember, to be precise at the traffic light Setail, Tile District, Banyuwangi Regency. Murad, witnesses to the incident called, Borobudur bus is known to have brake failure since crossing the highway in the West Wadung area. At that time the bus immediately accelerated without using the brakes and kept honking.
“I happened to be at the back of the bus, so know exactly how it happened,said Murad.
“The passengers on the bus, many are desperate to jump out of the bus because of panic,he explained.
Don't want victims to fall, Murad then immediately overtook the bus and tried to help open the road and give warnings to road users in front of the bus. Until finally the bus stopped after hitting a number of vehicles at the stopped Setail Tile traffic light.
Head of Tile Police Traffic Unit, IPDA Munir confirmed the incident. According to him the accident happened on Monday (5/8/2019) around 15.00 WIB. It is suspected that the bus driver could not control the speed of the vehicle and ended up having a series of accidents.
“The driver is on behalf of Mohammad Eka Syailendra (27) from Sumbersuko District, Lumajang. Luckily all the passengers on the bus survived even though they were shocked,said IPDA Munir.
However, some of the victims had to be taken to the Gambiran Al-Huda Hospital, Banyuwangi due to injuries.
The injured victim due to the brake failure bus accident was a Honda Beat driver with Nopol P 2041 XV in the name of Goddess Natali (31) and Lia (45) from the village of Curahketangi, Setail Village, Tile District, Banyuwangi Regency.
“Material losses due to this accident are estimated to reach millions of rupiah,"he said.
