BANYUWANGI – Two students swimming at the beach of Keenduran Hamlet, Bangsring Village, Wongsorejo sub-district sank after being swept away by the current and one of them was found dead, Wednesday (6/12/2017).

The victim who died was identified as Febri, (16), residents of Dusun Krajan II, Bangsring Village, Wongsorejo District. Meanwhile, the victim who is still missing is named Rio, (14), also Dusun Krajan II, Bangsring Village, Wongsorejo District.

Head of Polairud Banyuwangi, AKP Subandi together with a number of Airud Satpol officers came to the location to participate in searching for the two victims, together with the Basarnas team and the Wongsorejo Police Sector Police.

"Based on the testimony of eyewitnesses, previously existed 11 children and two of them were victims, bath together on the beach. Some of them swim using wood for buoys,said AKP Subandi.

Along with it, suddenly came the waves high enough and dragged into 11 children who are still in high school and middle school. But bad luck, the two victims, namely Rio and Febri, were swept away by the current into the middle of the sea.

"The survivors also asked for help from local residents until finally they were reported to the police,” said Kasat Polairud.

After doing a search by combing along the scene, a fisherman known as Suraji, a resident of Parasputih Hamlet, Bangsring village found Febri's victim floating in the middle of the sea, but already in a state of death.

"The Rio victims have not been found and the joint team is still searching,AKP Subandi added.

Found this event, The police appealed to all people to supervise their children not to play in the beach area.

"Because it's based on BMKG forecasts, in the next few days in Banyuwangi the weather is quite extreme, mainly in coastal areas,said AKP Subandi.

After being successfully evacuated to land, the body of the victim Febri was immediately rushed to the Wongsorejo Banyuwangi Health Center for medical treatment.
