BANYUWANGI – In the midst of the Corona virus disease pandemic (Covid-19), the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) seems to be wary.

Citizens' anticipation of dengue must be increased. At the moment, the number of dengue cases in Banyuwangi ranks 11th in East Java (East Java). This was confirmed by the Head of the Banyuwangi Health Office, Dr. Widji Lestariono.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) is a threat that can occur in all regions, both rural and urban. The most important factor for the emergence of dengue is the existence of a breeding ground for the Aedes aegypti mosquito as a disease transmitter.

“As long as there is a place for larvae to grow, the potential for dengue may be there,” said the doctor who is familiarly called Rio.

Currently, the number of dengue cases in Banyuwangi is quite high. During 2020, Health Office notes 146 dengue cases, even 5 of which resulted in the patient's death.

For the case of death, The incident took place before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, i.e. from February, March and April.

While the location is spread in a number of sub-districts. Namely the District of Rogojampi 3 case, Gambiran and Siliragung Districts respectively 1 case.

“This case is even, almost all districts,” he said.

Activities for handling dengue fever during the corona pandemic are still the same, namely the handling of suspected and confirmed DHF, epidemiological research, and fogging. Including the eradication of mosquito nests and the one jumantik program carried out by the residents of their respective homes.

Meanwhile, the reduced activity is Periodic Lartic Monitoring (PJB) which is usually done around by officers.
