PURWOHARJO – The farmers who planted dragon fruit are now starting to harvest. It is just, they can't smile freely because the price has dropped. That dragon fruit, now many are sent out of town.
One of the dragon fruit farmers, Widodo, 47, from the village of Krajan, Purwoharjo Village/District, said his newly harvested dragon fruit was sold to several cities such as Surabaya, Bali, and Jakarta. “We sell out of town,” he said.
Widodo admitted to growing dragon fruit on a quarter hectare or of land 230 tree. That plant, now aged 1,5 year. "This has been picked for the third time,” he told Jawa Pos Radar Tile yesterday (25/9).
According to Widodo, Dragon fruit prices are currently falling, i.e. only Rp 7.000 per kilogram. Even though when the first pick, his dragon fruit ever penetrated Rp 20 thousand per kilogram. “Once sold for Rp 34 thousand per kilogram,” he said.
“Every single climbing pole, light him, it consists of four dragon fruit trees. And it, once harvest can reach 30 kilogram. With that harvest, in a month can earn Rp 5 million. “Usually you can pick twice a month,” he said.
For marketing dragon fruit, Widodo admitted that it was not too difficult. Because, there are already collectors who buy directly to the land at a price according to the market. “The collectors come and harvest themselves,” the light.
One of the dragon fruit collectors, Sulistiono, who live in the village/sub-district of Purwoharjo, As long as the dragon fruit is still harvesting, every day you can collect about two to three dragon fruit 2,5 ton.
“That's only in the Purwoharjo district, If you go outside the district, you can pass through 40 per day,” he said.
