BANYUWANGI – The hot weather that has been felt in the last few weeks in Banyuwangi seems to have to be endured for the next month. BMKG Banyuwangi predicts, This year's dry season is slightly longer than last year.

Because of that, It is estimated that new rain will fall in the middle or end of November. BMKG forecaster Agung D. Nugroho explained, Currently there is still El Nino in the Australian region. This has an impact on the delay in the rainy season entering Indonesia, especially Banyuwangi.

Last year the rain started falling evenly since October, Currently, rain is predicted to fall only next November.

"Even if it rains, there is local rain. So the intensity is small and usually only occurs in highland areas in the early morning. Later when there is wind from the north, just now the rainy season will start to come," he explained.

He also added, Regarding the temperature that has felt hot in recent times, it is actually still within normal limits. The average temperature in Banyuwangi is around 26 until 31 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, for Banyuwangi to the north, approaching the Situbondo area, the highest temperatures reached 32 degrees Celsius.

But because the rain never came, This condition also makes the feeling of heat very pronounced. Because almost all locations feel the impact of the dryness of the surrounding area.

“The dry season is still quite long. This can affect water discharge because evaporation is quite high. So, We urge people to save water and be careful to stay away from causes of fire. Because with conditions like this, all become dry and flammable,” explained Agung.

Meanwhile, based on BMKG predictions, rain is expected to come periodically. Starting from sub-districts in the western part such as Licin Sub-district, Kalibaru District, Sempu Kecamatan District, in mid-November 2018.

Then the next area is Pesanggaran District and Siliragung District 10 the next day. Followed by the Kabat District area, Rogojampi, Banyuwangi, Kalipuro, Glagah. And the last one that is likely to experience rain in December is Tegaldlimo and Wongsorejo Districts.

"The first rain will be characterized by quite heavy intensity, coupled with lightning striking,"he said.
