Shareholders Reprimand Management

BANYUWANGI – Dozens of employees of PT. True Banyuwangi cruise (PBS) as if never tired of taking action down the street to demand their rights. After some time ago holding demonstrations in the Simpang Lima area, yesterday (19/7) the employees of the Putri Sri Tanjung and Putri Sri Tanjung I ship management companies held a peaceful demonstration at the Banyuwangi Regency Government office.

Chairperson of the Sri Tanjung Putri Shipworkers Union, Irfan Nurhidayatullah, said the demonstration in front of the district government office was carried out in order to ask the regional government for assistance. They asked the district government as the majority shareholder of PT. PBS urged management to immediately pay employees' salaries.

Irfan said, he and dozens of employees of PT. PBS has not received a salary for the last few months. Even, Even though Lebaran has been over a week, the employees of PT. PBS has not yet received holiday allowances (THR).

Irfan detailed, PT employees. PBS who served on the Putri Sri Tanjung I ship only received 50 percent of the salary they should have received from January to March. After receiving half the salary payment, worse fate befell them since April until yesterday.

In that period, they are not paid at all. While the employees on duty on the Putri Sri Tanjung ship, Irfan added, they did not receive any salary from May until yesterday. The same thing happened to employees in the operational department.

"In addition to unpaid wages, we also have not received THR," he said. Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas said, his party understands a number of problems that resulted in the financial condition of PT. PBS is getting worse. First, there is a new system related to the operation of ships in the Bali Strait, i.e. the ship sails for a day and does not operate for a day.

“This has caused the shipping company's revenue to decline,he explained. Second, there is a circular letter from the ministry prohibiting LCT from operating. So inevitably the ship must change. Nevertheless, Anas admitted that his party gave a warning to PBS to pay for employee rights.

"We gave a warning to PBS. Employee rights should have been resolved from the start, but not resolved. However, with existing financial conditions, Of course we understand. But, still has to be resolved. Need options even though it can't be quick," he explained.

Anas added, basically it wants to immediately pay the salaries of employees of PT. PBS. Because, government has enough money. Besides that, Anas also admitted that he was concerned and felt sorry for the employees. “But the BPK prohibits the district government's money from being used for company needs, because PBS is a PT that stands alone, outside the local government,he concluded.(radar)
