Head of Industrial Relations Development, Manpower Department, Transmigration and Industry (Manpower and Transmigration) Banyuwangi, Muhammad Rusdi confirmed the determination of the UMK.

According to him, increase in Banyuwangi MSEs this year 2024 lower than the previous year. On 2023, The UMK in this district can increase by IDR 200 thousand or 8,59 percent of the year 2022 worth Rp 2.328.899.

“Meanwhile, MSEs 2024 there is an increase of Rp 109 thousand. There is indeed a decrease compared to this year," explained Rusdi, confirmed, Friday (01/12/2023).

It explains, The formulation for determining the UMK is in accordance with Government Regulations (PP) Number 51 Year 2023 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 36 year 2021 about Wages.

The amount of wages is calculated by considering a number of variables such as the current minimum wage, economic growth, inflation, and certain indexes.

"The proposal to determine the UMK also involves the wage council. There are elements of entrepreneurs and elements of workers in it,"explained Rusdi.

Soon, His party will soon go out into the field to socialize the increase in the UMK to a number of companies in Banyuwangi.

“Possibly Wednesday, 06 December 2023 coming, we will carry out outreach to companies,” he said.

Rusdi said, by the rules, Companies are required to implement the UMK that has been determined for the welfare of workers.

“Especially companies that are capable. Therefore, it is mandatory to pay employees according to the established minimum wage,” he added.

Furthermore, overall, Rusdi said, Companies in Banyuwangi have paid their employees fairly.

But there are exceptions, especially for companies that cannot afford to pay their employees according to the UMK.

"So we reminded them to communicate with the workers, regarding the company's finances. So that workers can understand, if the place they work cannot pay them according to the minimum wage, said Rusdi. (*)
