Regent Anas Surati KSAD, Danrem Review English

BANYUWANGI – The Banyuwangi Regency Government's plan to designate the English complex as a cultural heritage and historical monument in Banyuwangi seems to have received a positive response from the Indonesian Army Headquarters. Korem Commander (Danrem) 083 Baladika Jaya Malang, Colonel (Armed) Muhammad Nakir, immediately inspected the ancient building complex on Jalan Diponegoro which is still used as a dormitory for TNI soldiers yesterday (17/7).

In Banyuwangi's RPJMD 2010-2015, the English complex became the target of peng- tourism development based on local wisdom. To follow up on that, Regent Anas some time ago conveyed this directly to KSAD General Pramono Edhi Wibowo. In addition to conveying directly orally, Regent Anas also sent an official letter to 18 June 2012 then.

In the letter, Regent Anas submitted a request for the use of TNI AD assets as cultural heritage in Banyuwangi. In the letter, Regent Anas said that Banyuwangi has a potential history of struggle against invaders that needs to be preserved, namely the English hostel complex which is an asset of the Indonesian Army.

The British dormitory complex is a former British Trade Office which was founded in 1766. Received, this building became a trading center in Bumi Blambangan and until now the condition of the building is still intact and is used as a dormitory for TNI soldiers. When allowed, the regency government intends to make the English complex a cultural heritage, and TNI dormitories will find a solution.

Regent Anas said he was ready for deliberations. Formally, The request letter from Regent Anas has not yet received a response from the TNI AD Headquarters. But, according to Colonel Nakir, The English complex has quite good and extraordinary historical value. Therefore, said Nakir, to make the ancient building a cultural heritage, it will comply with existing legal processes and procedures.

His party, as the executor in the field, is ready to carry out any decisions made by his leadership in Jakarta. According to Colonel Nakir, the ancient building is still used as a dormitory for TNI AD soldiers from the Kodim 0825 Banyuwangi. Because of that, Nakir supports Regent Anas' efforts to coordinate with leaders in Jakarta.

"We encourage the Regent to coordinate at the top level. Whatever the result, we are ready to carry out according to the leadership's instructions," insisted Nakir. When reviewing English, Colonel Nakir was not alone but was accompanied by the Dandim 0825 Lt Col Muslimin Fasyah; Deputy Regent Yusuf Widyatmoko; Development and Welfare Assistant, Suhartoyo; Head of Development Division Wawan Yadmadi, and several Kodim officers 0825 Banyuwangi.

Before reviewing English, Colonel Nakir held a social gathering with Forpimda Banyuwangi and the Kodim ranks 0825 Banyuwangi at Ma's House, Plengkung, To Kalipuro district (16/7). In the meeting, And rem conveyed the order of Pangdam V Brawijaya to him to review English which is still an asset of the Indonesian Army.

In his speech, Colonel Nakir said that Regent Anas sent a letter to Pangdam V Brawijaya asking for English as part of the cultural heritage of Banyuwangi Regency.. "I came here by order of the Military Commander as a response to the Banyuwangi Regent's letter and in the near future a special team will be formed,He said.

The Danrem hopes that the district government will continue to excavate historical sites and relics that have important meaning in the course of Banyuwangi's history. "If in an area you can find relics from the struggle for example in England, then that area can be called a city of struggle” said the Danrem. Colonel Nakir and Wabup Yusuf were seen blusukan into the ancient building left by the colonialists.

At the moment, the historic building looks unkempt and endangered. Monitor this newspaper, the building is actually no longer fit for habitation as a dormitory for TNI soldiers. The environmental conditions are slum and several building units are not well maintained. On that occasion, the local government submitted several documents to the Danrem.

One of the documents submitted is the history of the existence of the building. “If this building is approved, it will be used as a cultural heritage. Maintenance of this building requires high costs,"said Deputy Regent Yusuf Widyatmoko. (radar)
