BANYUWANGI – After collaborating with Go-jek and Ruangguru, Banyuwangi Regency Government prepares collaboration with Traveloka, network-based accommodation and tourism attraction provider company (online), to develop tourism in the area.

“Banyuwangi explores collaboration with Traveloka. This is part of our efforts to build a tourism ecosystem in Banyuwangi by involving as many parties as possible,” said Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas, Wednesday (25/4/2018).

Anas admitted that collaboration with various social innovators is a way to accelerate regional development. Previously, Banyuwangi has collaborated with Go-Jek for a number of social programs such as delivering drugs to the poor, as well as with educational technology developer Ruangguru for free online learning for students in villages.

He explained that he had met with a Traveloka representative. Among them with Traveloka's Lead Innovation, Edmund Goh Jun Jie. “Very good response, because we have one vision to drive local tourism, tourism that has an impact on society,” he said.

According to Anas, Banyuwangi wants to invite Traveloka to collaborate because the company is one of the big players in the national tourism industry. The scope of service is very wide. Traveloka also has the status of 'unicorn', one of five Indonesian startups with a value of USD 1 billion.

Regent aged 44 the year added, collaboration with various tourism actors, including Traveloka, will accelerate tourism development in Banyuwangi.

“Traveloka is a digital platform that plays a role in driving tourism in various regions. With this collaboration, Banyuwangi has a great opportunity to increase tourist awareness while expanding the market,” he said.

The main goal of this collaboration, continued Anas, are domestic tourists who are trying to be attracted to come more to Banyuwangi.

The form of collaboration is currently being explored. Anas says, Some of the options include inviting the Traveloka team to participate in empowering homestays and Banyuwangi tourism actors to become more digitally literate.

“Banyuwangi also has the opportunity to be promoted with a unique strategy on Traveloka. Of course they have data on the behavior of tourism consumers who usually access Traveloka. Which one matches the characteristics of Banyuwangi, That's what this collaboration can aim for. Other collaboration schemes will be discussed,” he said.

According to Anas, This collaboration will be mutually beneficial for both parties. “Banyuwangi and Traveloka both want to create an experience in traveling. Don't just bring people, not just ticket sales. But together we offer a new experience to tourists,” he said.
