CKPR Public Works Department officers dismantle drainage channels on Jalan Batur, Singourunan Village to move pipes that are installed crosswise, Saturday(28/10) then.

BANYUWANGI – public Works Service (COULD) Creation and Spatial Planning (CKPR) will dismantle a number of drainages that have the potential to trigger puddles during the rainy season. One of the priority drainages is the drainage channel with the Regional Drinking Water Company pipe installed (PDAM) horizontally.

Head of Public Works CKPR Office Mujiono said:, the results of the internal evaluation of the CKPR Public Works Agency, One of the causes of frequent puddles in the rainy season is the PDAM pipe that is installed across the drainage. In that rainy season, Garbage that enters the drainage is blocked by the PDAM pipe.

Because the garbage can't pass through the PDAM pipe, Mujiono said, then the channel is clogged and eventually floods and puddles occur. Many residents have complained about the problem to the CKPR Public Works Agency.

Even, Residents not only submit complaints, but there are those who damage the drainage channels to prevent flooding. “I have sent several letters to PDAM, but no follow up,” Mujiono said.

Because until now there has been no action from PDAM, continued Mujiono, then we have to move quickly to deal with the residents' complaints. “Last week, I dismantled the drainage channel on Jalan Batur, Singutorunan village, Banyuwangi District,” he said.

They had to dismantle the drainage channel, reason, if it is not dismantled, it will trigger flooding and puddles because the pipes block the drainage function. “After dismantling, then we plant the PDAM pipe in the ground and we install the culvert box so that the channel runs smoothly,” clear Mujiono.

Not only on Jalan Batur, said Mujiono, several other points many PDAM pipes have been installed blocking the drainage channels. Gradually, his party will dismantle the channel to dispose of the pipe so as not to block the drainage function.

“How many times have we asked the PDAM to plant the pipe in the ground so as not to disturb the drainage,” added.

In demolition activities on Jalan Batur, The CKPR Public Works Agency is not alone but involves PDAM officers. After the drainage is dismantled, PDAM officers then remove the obstructing pipe and plant it in the ground. (radar)
