Bulog Guarantees Raskin Has No Lice
BANYUWANGI – Head of Regional Sub Division 9 Bulog Banyuwangi, Raden Guna Dharma Nugrahawan is determined to absorb rice from farmers this year 2017 on target. This year, Bulog Banyuwangi is targeted to procure rice for farmers 55 thousand tons of rice.
Not only that, Nugrahawan is also optimistic that farmers' supply of rice will have a surplus of up to 60 thousand tons of rice because the potential for rice farming in Banyuwangi is very promising. “Last year we were targeted 55 thousand tons, but we can absorb grain 63 thousand tons,” said Awang as he is familiarly called.
The stock of rice in the Bulog Banyuwangi warehouse this year is indeed abundant. Just this moment, It's been recorded approx 32 thousand tons of rice in Bulog warehouses. Awang added, Just this past week, data from the Banyuwangi Agriculture Service said there were around seven thousand hectares of rice fields ready to be harvested. With this potential, Bulog is very optimistic that thousands of tons of grain from the farmers' land will be directly absorbed by Bulog Banyuwangi.
"Our target 60 thousand tons this year, but I'm sure it could be more. We can still accommodate because our warehouse capacity has reached 110 thousand tons,” he added. Regarding the distribution of Bulog rice, said Awang, Bulog continues to have an obligation to supply the rice needs of the prosperous people (rastra) until 1.900 tons of rice every month.
Besides that, Bulog Banyuwangi must also provide government rice reserves that can be on standby if the Banyuwangi area is affected by a disaster or is food insecure. “For this spare rice, we distribute as much as 100 tons per year,” explained this Bulog official from Jogjakarta.
To be known, in addition to abundant stock, Bulog Banyuwangi's rice quality is currently rising in caste. Last year's quality was only medium quality rice, but for this year the rice in Bulog is already available with medium plus to premium quality.
