Dozens of NU Residents Visited the Police
BANYUWANGI – The residents' demonstration against the gold mine in Tumpang Pitu had a long tail. In a demonstration banner carried out by residents last Tuesday (4/4) A logo appears depicting a hammer and sickle which is said to be the symbol of the PKI.
The appearance of this logo sparked anger from various elements of society. Yesterday (7/4), dozens of Nahdhatul Ulama cadres (NOT) went to the Banyuwangi Police Headquarters. They urged the police to investigate the mastermind behind the installation of the PKI logo on the banner.
“We ask the police to be firm and take real action regarding this issue, don't let it drag on. As a nation we have agreed that the PKI is a common enemy, Megara's enemy,” emphasized the NU representative from Pesanggaran, Gus Mubarak.
Dozens of NU cadres came to the police station at around 1:00 p.m 10.00. They were led by the Deputy Chair of PCNU Banyuwangi, Nanang Nur Ahmadi and MWCNU Chair Pesanggaran Makinudin. Also present were the Chair of the Ansor and NU Cadre Friendship Forum (FOSCAN) Abdillah Rafsanjani.
While at the police station, they were received by the Head of Intelligence and Security at the Banyuwangi Police, AKP Bambang TB. Nanang Nur Ahmadi said, he came to the Banyuwangi Police to complain about the appearance of the hammer and sickle logo on the anti-mining demonstration banner.
“We ask the police to immediately follow up on this matter. As proof of the complaint, we attach evidence in the form of recordings and photos of the hammer and sickle logo,said Nanang. As a child of the nation, Nanang continued, PCNU together with the people are ready to be the front guard and will support the police to crush the communist movement in Indonesia, especially in Banyuwangi..
“PKI is a banned organization in our country, common enemy,"he said. Abdillah Rafsanjani added, This complaint was made to prevent horizontal conflict in Pesanggaran. If pulled back, there had been arson, dismantling and forcing will. According to him, it is a characteristic of communists if there are desires that are not achieved.
"Because of that, the hammer and sickle logo appeared, we relate that there may indeed be communists playing behind this," he said. Initially, NU considered these demonstrations to be normal. For NU, demonstrations are activities guaranteed by law.
New concerns arose when the public felt uneasy about the use of the PKI logo. The appearance of this logo is dangerous and is feared to be an indication of the rise of communism in Banyuwangi. Action against gold mining on Mount Tumpang Pitu, Sumberagung Village, Pesanggaran Subdistrict was once again voiced by local residents.

The action, which was spearheaded by Budi Pego, began with the installation of a banner stretched across the corner road in front of the Red Island tourist entrance gate., Dusun Pancer, Sumberagung Village. The action lasted until the afternoon on the way to the Pesanggaran District office.
